Online College Rankings ]
Online degrees or online education, once known
as "distance education," has evolved over the years
into an entire virtual landscape today of schools and myriad
programs. Online degrees are availabe from both accredited
colleges and universities as well as non accredited schools
which have been know to issue "fake" degrees to
individuals willing to pay for them. We highly recommend doing
the necessary research to ensure you are pursuing a degree
from an accredited institution that will most benefit your
career goals.
There is plenty of discussion as to which online
degrees are most recognized and how they compare to their
on-campus counterparts. Most online colleges and universities
are accredited regionally, yet there are arguments these degrees
are of a lower quality than on-campus programs. However, some
experts have argued that degrees in particular fields of study
are actually better recognized online that on-campus.
So while the debate will continue, it's your
responsibility to determine which type of program is best
for you. Here at FreeEducationGuides we offer access to both
online degree programs as well as on campus degree programs.
We want you to be well informed with the knowledge to best
decide what is best for you.
In terms of financial aid to students seeking
an online degree, it wasn't until February of 2006 that federal
student aid such as federal student loand, student grants,
and work-study programs became available in the United States
for students studying in accredited online degree programs
(Ttile IV Eligible Institution).
