Job Corps is the oldest and largest organization of finance
education and vocational training targeted to economically
disadvantaged young people aged 16 to 24. Job Corps was created
in 1964 and has trained more than 2 million young people at
a current rate of approximately 62000 young people each year.
Where is Job Corps?
There are currently 122 Job Corps locations
in 48 states plus the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
Job Corps also manage outreach programs at hundreds of different
locations throughout the United States.

Education and Training
Job Corp students receive hands-on career
training in over 100 occupational areas including information
technology, health, construction-related fields, cooking arts,
commercial and technical fields among others. Job Corps students
can also participate in real on-the-job training programs.
Job Corps also helps students complete their high school diploma
or study to pass the GED.
During their enrollment in a Job Corps program
students receiving room and board, health benefits and bi-weekly
living allowances. There is a zero tolerance policy for drug
use and violence. Programs are self paced and can last up
to two years.
After Job Corps
Upon completion of a Job Corps program
students receive assistance in job placement. Employers benefit
by hiring new employees who are well trained and ready to
work immediately. Over 90 percent of Job Corps graduates go
on to work successfully in the private sector or military
or continue on to higher education programs. Graduates also
receive transitional support services such as assistance in
finding housing, childcare and transportation for up to 18
months after program graduation.
