BOCES
BOCES is an acronym for Board of Cooperative Educational
Services and is a regional educational organization in the
state of New York which functions as an extension of school
districts locally. There are currently 38 BOCES organizations
in the state of New York, and they are governed by a BOCES
board which is structured in a similar fashion to local boards
of education. The primary goal of BOCES is to determine educational
needs which can be met through regional cooperation of school
districts.
